Eh,I'm pretty sure this is the one...found it in my change from the drink machine. The front has the DD,but I like the reverse of this coin, look at the color and feathers.Cheers.
On this one I'm gonna have to say that it's not really clear what it is. I can definitely see what appears to be the results of a doubled die. I recommend the coin be restored. Whatever has covered the original surface must be removed in order to make a decision about the coin.
I keep hearing reverse proof....and this quarter matches the pickup points for that....I do not know what a reverse proof actually is or how it is done. Any help anyone?
It is 100% clear that it is not a doubled die. There is nothing to restore. OPs coin has seen better days. The only correct decision is to spend it.
I don't believe there is anything covering the coin. There are a lot of radial flow lines indicating a very worn die. This has nothing to do with a reverse proof. The mint didn't do anything with reverse proofs in the 80s. If you don't know what a reverse proof us, how can you say it matches the pick up points? Do you know that Denver does not make proof coins?
Dang...I rly thought I had it here,I noticed the worn die of corse but it doesn't seem to have affected the date or liberty as much as IGWT.. the stretched out o,the notching on the T in trust....I just dont get this sht tbh. I gotta find something elce 2 do
Keep working it. The puzzle pieces will eventually fall into place. Don't forget to check doubled die.com, variety vista and error ref. The best way to learn is to look at lots of coins and that takes time. Another suggestion is to check out dealer sites like Fred Weinberg's. Look at and study the errors they have listed. BTW: you always seem to post legitimate questions. Nothing wrong with that in this site. One of the keys to your quarter is seeing the radial flow lines that indicate a worn die. Hope this helps
Thanks man,I try to only post things that peak my interest and hopefully others as well. From what I understand,the strikes for 82 and 83 were known to mostly be bad,making a nice condition one hard to come by. I dont get how the reverse die can be so worn but at the same time keep alot of deep details in the feathers ect....I'll learn,in due time
