I was looking for a nice example of this type for quite a while. This one appealed to me. For me it's a fascinating type knowing what has happened to Geta. On the reverse of this denarius the young prince is clasping hands with Felicitas. She is the goddess of good luck and happiness. I suppose she didn't warn him of what was to come.... And there certainly was no luck for Geta because he was brutally murdered, ordered by his own brother Caracalla in 211 AD. And he was not the only one that was murdered, but also all the people around him that supported him (about 20,000 men and women, Cassius Dio stated). Poor Geta, that is what I think when I look at this coin Love to see your Geta coins though Geta as Caesar, denarius. Laodicea mint, ca 198-200 AD. 3,39 g. Obv. L SEPTIMIVS GETA CAES, draped & cuirassed bust right. Rev. FELICITAS TEMPOR, Felicitas standing right, holding long caduceus, clasping hands with Geta standing left, holding cornucopiae. RIC 94.
This is my favorite coin of Geta . Antioch, Syria, Geta as Augustus, AD 209-211, Billon tetradrachm, 14.45 gm, 27 mm, McAlee 719
Pictured below is my favorite FORGERY of a Geta denarius, made by Perter Rosa of NYC, circa 1980, 4.00 gm, 18.5 mm. This coin was an early lesson .
..nice coin of unfortunate Geta...but what would one expect from a culture/society who's beginnings were based on a story of a murderous bro...even western civilization has Cain and Able in its Judeo Christian religion...

I think it is a product of the photographer! The coin looks good in hand with a slightly raised bust. The weight is slightly light at 2.85g, but I've seen others near that weight. I will try to take another image tomorrow or Friday. Hopefully it will look better.
