My wife found this penny amongst change several years ago. 1995D Lincoln cent with absolutely no sign of copper...looks to be purely zinc. No sign of copper along the edges, in the initials VDB, or anywhere. Nothing to indicate tampering. It has little wear or discoloration, mostly just bag marks. The strike is weak on the reverse from around the "of" down to the top right of the Lincoln Memorial and the hair is flat looking. The coin has a dull appearance, not surprising as I doubt they'd polish zinc. So, how rare are these, and, of course, what's it worth? I can't find listings of these anywhere, but found a thread or two here of similar coins. Assuming it's genuine, and no reason to think its not, is it likely in the ballpark of $2, $20, $200, or $2000? Thanks!
Sounds like someone stripped the copper shell off using an acid, or has plated it in another metal. The first example is common. Neither is worth more than a cent. Pictures would help a lot. Guy~
