Hi everyone! I need some help in determining if this 1990 D is a keeper or not. I think there is doubling on the 1990. Liberty looks suspicious. And the reverse has some plating issues, I think, as well as doubling? Pardon my ignorance, I'm trying to learn. Please check it out and tell me your thoughts . Thanks in advance for your wisdom. I apologize for the bad photography.
It's die deterioration doubling which does not add value. You can read about it on www.doubleddie.com under the "worthless doubling" tab. That site has a lot of good info and is worth bookmarking. You are correct about the reverse. Looks like split plating around some of the letters and devices.
I agree with DDD - Die Deterioration Doubling Here is some more information - http://www.error-ref.com/die-deterioration-doubling-incuse/ Nothing to do with a true Doubled Die variety Welcome to CoinTalk
Welcome to "Coin Talk" I don't see anything other than a lamination error that I think is fairly common to zincoln cents. Others may comment like @paddyman98, i'm just not sure of all the errors out there. I try and use websites like doubleddie.com and a few others that help me see what I'm looking at.
It's a Worn Die Strike. Laminations are not common on copper plated zinc cents. Maybe Split Plating but not Lams.. Sorry.
Great, back to the piggy bank. Thank you all for imparting your wisdom on me. I knid of thought it might be DDD, but wasn't sure. I didn't know about the websites though, they will be very useful in the future. Maybe after I learn how to weed out the riff raff (the coins , not you guys) Lol. I can come to you guys with a specimen worthy of attention. I will continue with my eye strain and sore neck and keep looking. Blessed Holidays to you all!
