Any hope on this half being a 1812/1 large 8? I saw one that looks a lot like it on eBay. That’s for sale at the moment. It’s pcgs grade 12/1 and the stars on it touch the rim also? It has a few scratches but pretty kool rainbow toned. Thanks to all the help I have received on this website it truly rocks

That just seems real odd to me. That overall great condition/looking coin with those scratches?!?! It just beings to question, where she's been all these years and who scratched her.

Welcome to CT. What are you seeing that would suggest a 2 over a 1? I see no indication of that what-so-ever.

Some folks scratched silver coins to check for authenticity.

Thank you all very much. The 1812 was gave to me by my grandmother who raised me on a farm. Got on the school bus at the barn and got off of it there. Me and my grandmother made a time capsule in 86i was 11 yrs old and she gave me the half dollar to put in there and 5 Dimes at the time I didn’t think much of the dimes I thought it was kinda silly putting them in there. Long hard working story short. I got to looking at the dimes and would like your thoughts on them it’s a 1972p,1974p,1981p,84p,and 86d. And all 5 look like they were minted yesterday with few to none marks or scratches and all 5 have full bands. I noticed on pcgs web and in there price guide. There aren’t to many full bands in 72 and 4. Do you think it would be a good decision to have these graded at pcgs? And thanks again I really thankful I got on this site it’s amazing and the people on it willing to help out someone like me who doesn’t have the knowledge on coins. And I lost that lady I loved so much 2 years ago to cancer. Hope your holidays go well and thanks again for the help and advice

These coins are very special to you and for good reason. A lot of folks will slab coins like this just for the protection of a good holder. Don't worry about the value.

Forget the value. Their worth is in your grandmother and that means more than anything.
