    Hi Everyone,
For a couple of weeks I was testing out a new feature, a right column, and in that column I had listings of recent topics. I had mixed reviews of it, and removed it this week. Now, I'm hearing from people that they really appreciated the feature. So, I'd like to hear from more people, whether to bring it back or not.
    Thanks!

I rarely log in when browsing CT so all I need to do is click on "Today's Posts" or when I do log in I need only click on "New Posts". Showing recent topics in a seperate column seems redundant.

    Amen!

If you do bring it back, please pay attention to the poll I ran recently, which overwhelmingly approved an option to remove it.

Well, the way you worded your poll wasn't really about whether people liked having the feature. I'm more surprised that anyone voted against what you asked for, than I am that people said they'd like to be able to choose. I'm not against allowing people to choose whether to see it or not, but it is a whole lot more difficult to build it in a way that allows a choice. To be practical, it's not really an option. I'm not a good enough coder myself to do it well, and I can't afford to hire one who is.

You should have as a suggestion on the poll:

    Doesn't matter to me. :D

    Because.....

It doesn't matter to me. :D

Man O man I love the topic thing on the right hand side. My post count has skyrocketed because of it. I Find more topics I feel like posting in, because I am reading more of them.
I enjoy it and wish it would come back.

    Nope,

Didn't like it. It wasn't broke and as far as I know noboby was asking for it so why fix it?

Simple navigation is a plus to any site.

well I haven't been here as long as some but if my opinion matters at all, I don't see a reason for it, it was kind of a pain in the arse as it squished the left side of the screen. and if people want too see the recent posts just click on the new posts button on the top colomn tool bar. allrighty, I have said my :whistle:2 cent piece  HEHE <---sad atempt at a pun

I think one of the things that made this site what it is was a willingness to listen to everybody's opinions. I realized long ago I can't please everybody, and in cases like this it is difficult because whatever I do some people will not get what they want. But, it is important to me to listen to people, and I really appreciate that people care enough to speak their piece (or two-cent piece, if you have).

As with others on the site, I found the right hand column a bit redundant to the way that I browse the forums.

You made the correct choice, as is apparent from the poll herein, you have once again gauged opinion prior to implementation:)

i agree. it was a bit redundant. new topics can already be easily found. for that matter, most anything on cointalk can be easily found.

I will say I miss the "Number of New Posts shown since last log in" and hate the 30 second wait before refreshing your page.

    Take Care

Myself, I enjoyed the old home page. I liked seeing the number of new posts and the "new thread" titles without having to go into each and every forum. Thats what made this forum attractive to me compared to the other forums I've seen. As for the right hand column, whether its there or not doesnt bother me.

I too found the column redundant and was glad to see it eliminated.

OT - I really like how similar historical threads are listed at the bottom of a thread. Great way to revisit old threads without having to do a search. Great feature. AND, my hats off to you Peter for a nice clean site that is easy to navigate. AND, you've also created a nice place to visit. Thank you.
