Hi all, If a coin is missing a clad layer is it alway red? What do you think about this quarter, it is silver on the reverse and looks like this(see pic) on the obverse. Thanks
Hard to say for sure based on the pic, but that one looks like comething it has come in conatct with has caused the color change.
Unless the color of the pic is way off, I really don’t think that is copper. Looks like badly tarnished CN to me. Also, look at the edge- are there three layers? If it were missing the obverse clad layer, there would only be two layers on the edge.
There are 2 layers on the edge, I really need to weigh it the color is almost a brown,green color like a older,but not as badly tarnished sac dollar in circulation.
