Here is my newest Alexandrian Tetradrachm, this time it's another Hadrian. This makes my 7th Hadrian Alexandrian Tet. The main reason I got it was that it was just only $29. Pictures weren't that great but it looked pretty nice and it's one of the better reverse types, despite being common. Plus I can never say no to dark-toned ancients like these. Hadrian (117 - 138 A.D.) Egypt, Alexandria Billon Tetradrachm O: AVT KAI TPAI ADPIANOC CEB, laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind. R: Hadrian standing left, holding sceptre and clasping hands with Alexandria standing right, holding vexillum; L IE, Dated year 15 (130/1 AD) between. 13.38g 24mm Dattari (Savio) 1268 & 7367; K&G 32.505; RPC III 5768; Emmett 845.15.
Really nice @Mat - and a great deal. Most of the outlets I have found sell Hadrian tets north of $150 a pop, sometimes much higher for a scarce type. So as you imagine I am pretty envious as well. Need to keep my eyes open for more tets as I am putting a focus on the coins of Roman Egypt these days. There is this drachm of Antinous for sale online for $9,000. It's been up for awhile but no one has bought it. Price is a bit steep but I actually have considered it, though I just can't pull the trigger.
Thanks, I was surprised it was a BIN so cheap and yet other listings from the seller are the usually overpriced pieces.
