I found this coin that I like, What is your opinion on it, http://www.newyorkmint.net/home/topsellers/topexclusive/008163.aspx America's Lost Masterpiece - The $100 Silver UNIONItem # 008163 A New York Mint Exclusive! Silver Proof in 1.5oz of Pure Silver. Price: $99.00 Cheryl
I did not mean to offend, I am sorry. It reminded me of TV commercials, the hype. It IS a good looking coin/round I am sure. again, sorry
No you did not, I had a good laugh at at. It reminds, one from the peanut gallery ( not to offend you in any way)
I've heard of the $100 Unions , it is a beautiful design , if you like it go for it , Myself I would rather put that money on a U.S. coin , JMO rzage
Cheryl, I like it. Interesting though that it is slabbed by NGC. I am sure that has contributed to its cost. Joe
I really like that, Cheryl. I had not heard anything about Morgan's design being found and struck. It's a beautiful design, and very well executed. Whether to buy one or not is purely a matter of taste. I would never recommend buying one as an investment, but if someone liked the design well enough to pay the 99 bucks for it, then I would have no problem with that. I I think it would be an excellent piece to add to, say, a Morgan collection, if someone were building a nice set of Morgans. If I were still collecting Morgans I'd definitely get one for my collection. or if I collected medals/tokens, etc.
Thank you for your come back on this. on the Nickel. I graded it a about good. The person that sold it to me graded it good, I value all the opinions about the big coin in question, most of you have been collecting a lot longer than me. I it nice to know there ya'll stand on this. thanks awhole lot. Cheryl sleep now church in the morning.
I would say the obverse is good 4 and the reverse is AG3. If submitted it should get a 4 as the obverse should carry more weight.
I agree. I understand some consider it illogical over paying spot on a 'token' or 'medal' but as long as Cheryl likes the item I think $99 is a fair price for something beautiful to enjoy and it is encapsulated so it will be protected. I realize if you are purchasing an item for an investment, you have to consider the future possibilities, supply and demand, trending, speculating and the age old 'buy low, well high' theory of business. But if you're purchasing it to enjoy the art and can afford the item the silver spot ratio shouldn't be the issue. Otherwise, we'd do the same with MOST of the coins. What's the actual copper value of an 09SVDB? The silver content of a 79CC? The gold content of a $3 Princess? Interesting, no one ever says 'wow .. you paid how much for a Morgan 79CC in an MS64? Do you realize there's only about $12.50 melt value there? That means silver will have to be around $6k an ounce before you break even. Just MHO .... Thanks ~ CoinGal07
