When I clicked on your attachments (both of them) I received a Coin Talk-error message. Can you please post jpeg images as an attachment to your post. Or, if you know why they can't be opened, please correct the problem. I'd love to see your coins. Thank you.

Only the coin would no but if you research the minting process and how the coins are made then you might have a better understanding.jmo

    Hello and welcome to CoinTalk.
Your 1985 Cent is made of a Copper plated zinc planchet. Something came into contact with the surface and erroded part of the copper and continued into the zinc core. Probably Acid.
That is not any kind of mint error :(

It would have caught my eye also Casey. With the obverse so clean and the reverse like it is, I might suspect a controlled experiment of some type, but after it left the mint. Acid would be my guess also. I suspect the obverse was cleaned up afterwards. The who and why will forever be a mystery.

Looks like it was done with a welding torch.

Thank you so very much you guys! I really appreciate the feedback as always, and I Honestly would be lost on here without everyone’s help! Sorry it has taken me a minute to get back on here, I’ve been working so much this last week, and haven't had a moment to breathe it seems. Although it stinks that its not something as great as I hoped, but I’m okay with it being just what it is, because I tend to be persistent and dedicated when I have a goal at hand, and I’ll be d$@!*# if I go without ever finding that perfect coin for my collection lol

Looks like it was eaten away by some form of acid. It's damaged. I'd save it because it's only one cent and you can see the core rotting away already.

Acid. Copper and zinc are good heat conductors and the area around it would have been damaged even with a pin point flame. Its got a nice perimeter as if acid was dropped on those 2 spots and then neutralized or something before going all the way through. Cool PMD.

The zinc cents are very cheap (in comparison to 95% copper coins).
And they react to all kinds of things and disintegrate easily.
