I'm thinking the mintmark might be upside down, would need a better close-up of it to be sure

?? I guess I don't get you.... I sent it back....they removed the PVC and put it back in a slab with the same grade and such...and sent it back to me.

I didn't know PCGS will do this type of thing. I have an 1803 large cent graded by them and it has some carbon spotting that I'd sure like to address. Do you think this is something they would address before a reholdering? I'm not a member, but was thinking about it and this would spur me to do so.

By the way, what you got done sounds like what NCS does, but without the pricetag and process. Am I wrong?

    Catbert,
While PCGS has a guarantee on coins such as mine...I think copper coins are left out because of the fact that carbon spots can grow after being slabbed. Since the PVC was kindof big it was no doubt there when PCGS graded my coin...they just slipped up.

I'm not a member of PCGS either...but it was there problem so they had to fix it. They sent me some forms that I had to make out and send back in with my coin and that was it. I would have dipped the coin in acetone myself but since it was an Inverted MM I wasn't willing to do so...I wanted it graded and just my 2 cents...but if I cracked this out and sent it in to either PCGS or NGC raw...it would come back BB.

I would say it's a 35 and that is probably what is on the holder. The hair detail look a bit flat to be XF but I mostly collect gold.

Though I didn't give a grade, I think I called the minmark first. Nice coin I can't imagine what you paid.

Next to nothing IMHO. The last owner had put it on Ebay and then after leaving it for about 5 days decided to pull the listing because alot of different people were asking questions, but no bids. After they pulled it I wrote asking if they were going to relist it or how where they going to sell it. Much to my shock they offered it to me at a price much lower than what I thought I would have to pay. So I decided that while I could lose all of my money, I might also get a great coin. Thankfuly the seller turned out to be a good one and came through great!!

Now when looking at some variety price guides they would say that I overpaid quite a bit...

This was the first one I had ever seen for sale, and as far as I know none otheres have come up for sale.
