United States 25 Cents - type 1, 1917

 

This is one of the most beautiful coins ever made, in my estimation. I only have 3 of them, here is the best one, a 1924 US quarter dollar. Is it called a Standing Liberty or a Flying Eagle? Kind of a shame that the high relief areas wear off so much.

 

Standing Liberty, the Flying Eagle is a cent coin. My best one here.

 

I agree, coin_nut, the Standing Liberty quarter dollar is one of the most beautiful (with a caveat) U.S. coins ever made. Along with the Standing Liberty quarter, I find the Peace dollar in the top three to five (probably worldwide issues). I don't exactly know why. Is it the story of Anthony de Francisci having his wife as model for the obverse? Is it the [naive] idea that we were actually going to experience some peace after WWI? Is it the simplicity of the coin overall? I don't know. But I experience a sense of calmness and peace when I hold the coin in my hand and think of all those things.

In any case, US 1922 one-dollar.

Love the coin, @panzerman. I envy your gold collection. However, here on coin uno, you should have come back with a United States issue or a coin from anywhere with a 1922 date. You probably thought you were on the other post! I make that mistake often but catch myself . . . .
