Digger I don't know what he did...I aksed him what it was...and he said that the guy had aid it was a Morgan that was worn--I guess he knew. Hope Ken can help you!!! Speedy
I agree completely! This oppotunity doesn't happen often, so I have to at least make a decent effort for the publicity. If I don't succeed at least I tried. check your PM's I am about to send one
I'm curious about the reason behind your effort for publicity. I get the feeling it's about more than upping the ante. I read an old thread here about promoting the hobby of coin collecting that may (or may not) be relevant. If you don't wish to respond to the implied question above, I'll understand. I'm not sure if I'm being intrusive or just showing my ignorance about how the numismatic community functions.
Upping the ante: I'm not sure what your implying The old thread you refer to I have not read. All I can say is you are welcome to ask questions, I don't mind even if they do seem a little intrusive. I assure you my motive is strickly to seize the moment because I may never get the chance again. Maybe it will make me feel that I have accomplished something I will be able to be proud of some day. Another big reason for this drive for publicity is to give this type of error more credit/recognition . I have been hard pressed to find out anything about it on the net. Haven't even seen any for sale on ebay either. It is certainly not listed in the Red book and I just feel it deserves more attention, so ...why not try to make a difference in this world in some small insignificant way. Besides I haven't got much else to do anyway. I hope this answers your question, thanks for asking.
Thank you! You answered my questions perfectly. Seems to me like you should be proud today, already. You found it! The hours of squinting through a magnifying glass weren't wasted! By "upping the ante," I meant raising the amount of the eventual sale price. But, as I suspected and you confirmed, that's not your main motivation. Even if it's a secondary goal, as long as it's done honestly, why not?
If you would like, send an email and photo over to Ken Potter and see if he would be interested in putting it on the CONECA site. I am sure he would... His email is: kpotter256@aol.com. Tell him I sentcha! Nice find and Good luck!
Digger, Potter helped me out when I thought I had a neat coin. He will probably do the same for you and your find if it is authentic. Good Luck!!!
Thanks Where have you been Jt? I have made contact with Ken Potter and am hoping he will put it on the Coneca site. I did not know who Ken was connected with until now. Somehow I got Coneca Mixed up with a Numismatic News article I read with an email address linked to Ken. Because that is how I found Ken, I assumed he was thinking of putting it at the other site. Thank you for unintentionally making me aware of my mistake. I explored Kens' site earlier and realized then I did not really know where he meant to write about it. He said he would TRY(that means no promises) to put it on the front page, not saying where.
