Somehow I had three posts instead of just the one I wanted. The mistake was mine - I'm learning to use an iPad. So I edited this one to show a new photo of this 1954-S, previously shown in post #4433.

The orange toning gives a rich warm color in hand.

That's not fair. I've seen some nice toned 57-D Lincolns in my time, but that coin simply takes the cake. Best in show, competition is over, Bob is the winner, we can all go home now.

I had to jump ahead in my re-photographing project so I could join you all with this 1957-D. The amazing die scratches get the most attention in this picture, but in-hand this is also quite mirror-like. I don't know how to capture that in a photo, but you can get a hint of it by the way the light plays off the fields above the date.

Some of these early 50’s proofs are just gorgeous. I love the ones that seem to have cured to a cherry red like the one above, but they are terrific even if they haven’t.

Me too! I love that thin, whisper of a red toning look. You've probably seen this one before, it's one of my fav. Such "liquid" fields! Shot at 68?

I enjoy the creamy looking Lincoln proofs too.

This is an old photo, but I still love it.

I updated the 1957-D in post #6430 because the white balance was off and the coin looked too dark.

This 1958 was posted before in post #4444.
