(Dark and stormy night, when the cointalk members go and check on Jack. They go to his nice, safe corner, and see him shaking hysterically. Jim asks "Jack, you ok?" Jack spins around, drooling and panting, with a stack of Lincoln's in 2x2's in each hand. Jim and Spock jump back, while the other cointalk members quickly take a few steps back. Clembo says "Jack, calm down, we are here to help you!" Jack starts growling "ONLY ONE THAT CAN HELP ME IS...." Then he collapses to the floor. Clembo runs over, and picks Jack up off the floor. Sighing deeply, trying to think of how to help Jack with his situation, he says "Calm down buddy, who is the only one that can help you?!?" Jack says "D-D-Daa-Daav" Clembo responds "Dav?" Jacks screams "DAVID HALL!! I NEED THE SHOW EXPRESS SERVICE, QUICK!!!" What will the cointalkers do? Do the need to get the help of Fabio again? Maybe....

    :D :D :D I'm bored, now I'm off to dinner. :D

    Phoenix

Wow - way to go Jack! I think it shows how much of an expert you are with lincolns. I see nothing wrong with using PCGS or NGC, even ANACs - if that is what you want to do. I can certainly see why on the high end coins you would do this. Hope you do just as well with the next 10.

Jack, your forte is Lincoln cents, so I'm not surprised to see your coins coming back graded as you thought them to be. The CH AU's that came back as MS63 may just be the way PCGS rewards high end submitters hoping for the koolaid to work and to get you to send in more coins. It seems that since your original gradings were accurate you don't have to submit these coins you know so well. When it comes to a slider au/bu, send it in for grading. They did well by you this last time! As far as world gold. It's gold...how bad could that be?

Based on the original post, the submitter has submitted a total of 20 coins. The first submission was 10 coins where he got the 2 unexpected higher grades. Do you really believe that PCGS (or any TPG) would give gift grades to a submitter to get more submissions? And if so, do you really believe they would do it to a submitter who submitted a "massive" 10 coin submission? I submit several thousand coins a year and I can't say the percentage of what I consider undergrades/overgrades has changed much over the years.

For a vast majority of the coins they see, the graders do not know who owns them. They go into the grading room in a little anonymous box with meaningless (to the graders) bar codes and tracking numbers on them. I know this for a fact. Having said that, one of my worst submissions was one where the head grader knew they were my coins, knows how much I submit, and I've always had a friendly rapport with him. If there was ever a time to get gift grades that would have been it, but I got hammered.

There were a total of 5 submission forms, all show/over the counter at LB, and another 2 thru a buddy here in Phoenix so we could save costs.

They had no idea who they were grading for as stated by Mr Marguli. Believe me I had thoughts about all the PCGS bashing I have done, and it did cross my mind that if one of the persons knew my name on the CU forums, I'd get a spankin.

I think the 63RB's are market graded, and I was accurate on my grading on the others, nothing more. I am far from anything they would consider a coin dealer, large submitter or high end customer to " woo " and give preference to.
