Dear all, I got this in Tiergarten, Berlin, recently. I know it's a Kopeck from between 1400-1700, but I don't know when/issued by whom. I can't read Cyrillic (especially so the old alphabet), but I tried to match the writing to the Kopecks on Numista.com. But there are just SOOO many samples there... I thought it may be worthwhile to ask here if anybody here recognizes it or can understand any bit of the text that would provide a lead. Thank you, Alex
I believe yours is minted under Michael I (1613-1648), the first Romanov. I can’t make out the mint. Silver-copeck.ru is a great site for these, but you’d have to know the ruler’s name in Russian first.
