I just got back from the National Nickel Exhange in Washington D.C, where you can exchange your cash for 2$ Bison nickel rolls. i got their at 11am when it started, their was a 45 min line already!!! Finally I got throught the line and got 450$ in New, Shinny, Uncirculated Bison Nickels. They had $100,000 in nickels!!!!!!! it was amazing to go their and see the dancing indians, and the real bison. Iwill never forget this day. Thanks to Adams National Bank who brought the nickel to Union Station.
Wow! I wish I lived closer to Washington D.C. I would have loved to get in on that action. I just ordered 4 rolls from the mint yesterday...of course they are backordered until March 15th....I do look forward to getting them though! That is a great new design in my opinion. Dennis here in Georgia
I also went to the nickel exchange today.I was surprised that there wasn't a limit on how many rolls you could buy. These were all bank rolls and only the P mint coins. There was a U.S. Mint store in Union Square (right by where the nickel exchange was going on) that had the US mint rolls, but by the time I got there they were sold out.
The Robster just reminded me of how lucky I am, I forget sometimes. I see buffalo every day, they are a tremendous animal & symbol of this great country. I feel they belong on a US coin & I cant wait till mine get here. Dave
I thought this sounded kind of hokey when I first heard about it, but is sounds like a fun day. I hope the Mint does more of this. Maybe they could take that Bison on the road.
I got there at 10AM thinking the ceremony was held inside. I went right by what I thought was Upper Senate Park, and missed the ceremony. But, there was a line forming for the nickel exchange when I got there. So, I got in line and talked with some really nice coin collectors from Philly after I had stepped out of line to purchase the two mint rolls from the mint store. (I guess it was a good thing now because they were offering only bank rolls of the "P" mint. Anyway, as luck would have it, or divine providence, lol, I was almost the last person to get my rolls signed by Henrietta Holsman Fore. I even got my picture taken with her. (Thanks to the nice guy from Philly). Anyway, it was a truly awesome experience. We all joked that maybe we should have had Mrs. Fore sign the rolls with "Sorry for the bag marks". If I get a chance I'll post my pictures.
Sounds like a very cool experience. If any of you have photos from the Exchange please forward them to me and I will put them up on my website!
I personally, miss the eagle. Since the quarters were replaced, I think they need to put the eagle on somthing until the quarters are done.
