I havent seen a millions of pennies like some here but a few. I just want to verify this is some sort of weird mechanical doubling or PMD. The letters R and B are really doubled looking along with a few others. I researched 47s on VV and I came up with nothing. I'd rather check with you guys then let it fester "maybe" in the back of my mind. What causes such extreme doubling like this? Is it a worn die and strange PMD?

IMO it looks like Die Deterioration Doubling. http://doubleddie.com/144843.html
If you scroll down, read the part that states that DDD sometimes will appear on both sides of the letter. Like the letter U in PLURIBUS.

I agree. DDD and a well placed hit on the B. It does look a little tricky by itself, but in the total view, the coin looks normal. Sometimes magnification has your mind in overdrive with what you are seeing.
