At one of the shops I go to they usually always have coins at melt plus a very small mark up like $10 on 1/2 eagles . rzage
nothing for you to be beating yourself over the head for. its only $25 anyway. use it to study how they use artificial toning and how you can develop an eye for it. study the die characteristics (maybe it will be a rare vam!!) regardless ...use the knowledge...knowledge isn't power...the ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE is power. when i teach or train in the martial arts...i always leave my ego at the door. you learn from making mistakes (getting knocked out, choked out or having to tap out). just remeber to learn from them and take your time on any purchase...EVERYONE wants your money and there are lots of morgans out there. make the HUNT for the specific coin an adventure. only my own very humble advice. best wishes, steve
As a point of reference, you will rarely find a truly rainbow toned coin for $20. That kind of toning carries a stiff premium, usually. I'd return it when it arives.
I'm sorry Stainless and I haven't even bothered to read all of the posts but I gotta ask you this. Why do you do this? You have a ton of support available here, great opinions, great knowledge to be had and you post the auction AFTER you have won it? We were all here BEFORE you bid on it my friend. You should have asked then. You recently posted a thread about a Franklin Half and it seemed most, including myself, thought you got off easy. As for this coin. Garbage buddy. Should you dip it? How would you go about that? I may sound a bit or even a bit more than harsh Stainless but we are friends aren't we? Seems you're on a limited budget as we all are if you get down to it. Our limits are different - that's all. Please stop blowing yours on garbage. A person that has $500 to spend on a coin will not settle for garbage. Neither should one on a $20 budget. Ask the questions BEFORE you bid man. SIncerely, clembo
Yeah, after my millionth time burning my money on junk, i finally learned the lesson. I will always come here first, at least until i get more experience. thanks for the advice Clembo, and all others stainless
Let's hope so. There are plenty of people here who want to help you but we can only help if you ask us before you buy a coin.
One tip is to look at the other coins he has for sale. Notice that most of his toned coins have the same look? And the same colors? What are the chances that someone is selling a few naturally toned coins that look the same? Very slim to none. The reason they look similar is that he used the same toning technique on all of them.
Thank you Treashunt! I will stay around. Every forum on the internet has its own personality which is determined by its members. I like this forum. It has a good personality!
