I love that horse, @Alegandron ! Shakira is very nice, too Here’s my most recent Judaean coin upgrade. The centering of the image and sharpness surpasses my current Hendin 1341. Also Here is my favorite musical selection in celebration of our CTAF Secret Saturnalia festivities. Thanks @kevin McGonigal!
I ll take Shakira over the horse Last time I rode on a horse, I was sore fore 24 hours after But I like horses on coins....seems the Celts had the same idea
Mario Lanza in The Student Prince: this guy did Gaudeamus Igitur like a champ! and you might like this one by Mario Lanza Judaea Pontius Pilate 26-36 CE - Prutah TIBEPIOY KAICAPOC Lituus Hendin 1342 Judaea Pontius Pilate 14-37 CE - Prutah TIBEPIOY KAICAPOC Lituus
That is the first time I heard Mario Lanza/ I would give him a perfect "10" for that song. Had to look him up, he died very young He died from over eating/ drinking, so sad.
Amazing—those are incredibly beautiful songs by Mario Lanza! I’ve never seen the entire Student Prince film—I need to watch it. There’s one song from the musical that I’m all too familiar. It sums up my younger years. Your Hendin 1342 and 1343 are superb, @Alegandron ! I love the Wasabi mustard colored one!
Yup, know all the songs, including that one pretty well. He was known as one of the best Tenors known. Too much wine, women, and song and he perished at too young an age. My parents had is records when I was a wee lad! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mario_Lanza
So did my parents/ uncles/ aunts, he was very popular in Germany. Food was one of his downfalls, I also love good food, take in 6000+ calories @ day But, I still wear size 30 jeans like in highschool. Walking 300 K @ week helps keep the weight off. Same for beer, moderation is key even healthy. Drugs are taboo and deadly. Collecting coins extends your lifespan.....happy people live longer John
I think my new Claudius deserves another chance to shine in the spotlight... He may have had a difficult life due to his physical ailments but Claudius was definitely not anyone's stepping stone.
In the end of year retrospective spirit, here's a track from the best gig of 2019 for me: Actually, here's another And a coin... I won this last weekend, but it hasn't arrived yet, so hasn't made it into any 2019 lists - a Carthaginian stater, I'd wanted one almost since I started collecting and will have one soon, postal gods permitting: ATB, Aidan.
