Anybody going to the Vegas show Mar. 4th, 5th & 6th ? I hope to meet a few friends there and meet a few others I've never had the pleasure of meeting in person.

If I had my way, EVERY coin show would be held in Vegas :D

Hey, now I am the surprised one. I thought I read something about seven years of study?

Would have loved to be in Vegas and shoot the breeze but I am still waiting for Jody to pick me up for that road trip to your mountain "retreat":)

I still think you got your hat at Donner's Pass.

You did read that - what you didn't read is that I had a change of heart afterwards :D

Yup - and I'm still waiting for the whole gang to get here ;)

Donner's Pass ? Nahhhhhh - got it down in the valley

You ought to come to the small Coin Show here where I am...if I remember right...last time there was about 5 tables of your kind of coins...mostly gold ;)

Tell ya what Speedy, you get 'em to move the show's location so it's not 2000 thousand miles away - preferably under 400 - and I'll go ;)

    I'll be waiting a LOOOOOOONNNNNGGGG time won't I :D

Speedy, about your four tables. Sorry but GD likes old gold that either has alot of crosses imprinted in it or some man standing with sticks in his hand or something. Go figure. Why buy old when one can get new and why go to a show when it is sold on tv. I'm smart you see so I know all the answers. The only problem is they don't fit the questions. :)

Some guys say GD used to know that old man but I don't see how such a young man could have  :D
The coins I saw were old and new...I tried not to look because I might just had been taken back by them and wanted to buy some

    Speedy,
With all the experiences that GD has hinted at over the year +, sometimes I wonder if he is that guy on the Ducat. I'm going to have to take a closer look.

As for buying gold, well I just wish I was buying it when I was your age.

I collect little gold...in fact...I have never bought any.
It dosn't jump out at me....maybe its the price but I don't think so...the look of a PF Franklin over-powers all of the gold with one look!!!

    Speedy

GD is going to get you!!!

GD: I hope it is non-violent, for after all, I do not want you to make a new hat using my teeth.

Let us know how the Vegas Coin show went. I find the location of such an event to be an interesting choice considering that I always thought that collectors for the most part do not like to part with their coins. It would be interesting to know if collectors do indeed play the slots.

Finally after all this time, you have hit on the one thread that ties it all togather. Long Union Suits=Ducats=Quite a few people from/and in Utah=GDJMSP in the flesh. (almost that is)
Now I know the truth behind his desire of those gold ducats. :D

Old Dan: Like the man in the painting, GD doesn't age as long as the ducat is minted.

GD:I looked up the Plaza hotel, it has a swimming pool on the roof. Nice. Have fun but make sure you don't have any coins in your swim suit for we know how this forum hates coins that went for a dip.

Speedy: The Franklin is my favorite American silver coin, then the buffalo, and is perhaps in the top three of my favorite silver coins world wide. For a young eye, you have good taste.

I wish I was in Viva Las Vegas. Oh well, at least my youngest doesn't wet me when I change his diaper.

I started out looking for a set in silver I could complete with out having to spend big $$...I did one set...filled one of the red 2x2 boxes with franklins (at least on of each date and MM) and stated on slabbed PF-66 Franklins...I'd like to start to get the Franklins in MS64 slabbed but need to wait for a bit and get back to work!!

Welcome back GD or are you posting from Vegas. Free internet access perhaps, my hotel rooms only came with free cable but bring your own TV.
