I thought I’d post this group photo of coin flippers. Please individually identify yourselves. It’ll help put together lists of who never to buy coins from again. If you’re offended by this posting, thanks for making my day.
Hey, who else are you going to turn to for the 95% of Mint issues that sell for less in the aftermarket? Like they say, bulls get fat, and bears get fat, but hogs get slaughtered...
Does anybody recall what the 2013 (?) ASE Reversed Enhanced cost ? Was this kind of frenzy evident back then ? I bought some at shows months or years later and I think I paid like $250 for a pair if I recall correctly (MS69 or so).
I lucked out today and had a meeting at my son's school at 1030. So I was able to be home at 1150 to wait and refresh a bunch. When the clock hit 12, that site went down faster than well...this is a family site. I refreshed and got frustrated for about 10 minutes before it finally went through. I got an email with a confirmation number and my card has been charged so I am assuming I got one. I said it before, the only reason I wanted one was because it goes with my son's birth year set (this kid is only 2 months old and is already swimming in coins!). If I would've missed it then it would've been a bummer but I certainly would not pay flipper prices. Now we will see if I actually get one...
How about emailing an offer to buy/reserve one to your most loyal customers ? And a similar email via lottery to the rest who have accounts ? Something like that is fairer than letting speed-emailers take over.
Why? Every sale is literally a flip. Sellers don't buy things not to sell them whether or not they got them from collectors or the manufacturer. Your house was built by a flipper, so was your car, all the food you eat was sold by flippers etc
the 2013 special releases were mint-to-order so there was no crazy rush. They ended up making over 230k.
Was like 149ish for the set from the mint. About 10 percent of orders were canceled if I remember right. It was dead in the water from start being mint to demand
What defines a loyal customer? Longevity? Dollars spent? How many speculators, dealers, and flipper would be at the top of this loyalty list? I’m willing to bet nearly all of the ones people are complaining about would get preferential treatment if that’s they way things went. The Mint likely has 100k’s of customers that buy regularly. How do you grade them when you only have 30k things to sell. No mater what you do, someone will always be left out. One per household and opening it up to everyone gives everyone a chance. Pre selecting people ahead of time means there is a massive population of potential customers that have absolutely zero chance. Assuming you have an internet connection, the odds are even. Yes, people will game the system, but there is nothing you can do about that without causing other issues while achieving the same outcome.
To me, flipping something means that you buy something with the intention of selling it for a profit. My car, and house, etc... weren't flips in this instance. Purchased from private owners, which btw, they both lost money as my buying price was less than their buying price.
The original makers all built them with the intention of selling for profit just as the grocery store flips food, the department store flips clothes, restaurants flip their food, bars flip food and drink, pharmacies flip medicine, the list can go on and on, essentially every flips their inventory.
Thanks...that explains it...I paid a premium but no where near what the asking prices are on Ebay. They needed to mint about 100,000 of these to alleviate the nut factor in bidding. Mint-to-order is fine, but they had to know if there was demand for 200,000 last time that minting only 30,000 now (with more collectors since 2013) would cause problems. Like with their idiotic website !!!
Probably dollars spent..........I get free shipping after I've spent a few bucks with them. I still get a Christmas card each year from E. C. Moy......
They did know, and that’s the whole point. They wanted to create crazy hype and high demand with limited supply. I actually welcome this sort of thing from time to time. I
