an estate coin Is a coin they "bought" at an "estate auction". where someone passed away, and all their belongings are being auctioned off
I passed up that coin....the bid is too high for the condition... thanks for the help though stainless
Not the best picture of that coin... way to bright and not a very large larger picture...An e-bay seller should know better then that. keep an eye on the posting.
" Estate " means beware and do your research into the seller. Use toolhaus.org to check the TRUE feedback of that seller. Not all Estate coins are bad or sellers who sell them, BUT, you really need to look further as it is a catchword used to puff the value/desirability of a given item.
Most, not all, estate stuff on eBay is not really an estate buy, but rather something someone made up as a reason the coin is being sold.
May sound funny but so, so true. Sort of like the used car saleperson that has to check with the manager about the super low price on that car. If your in the Chicago area we have many people that run around saying PSSST, hey buddy, want to buy a real Rolex Watch for $10?
ya beat me to it. estate coin: [translation] "I know that this coin is junk, possibly counterfeit, but if I blur the pictures and stand about 20 feet away perhaps they will not be able to tell..."
People who are really selling estate coins and being honest about the deal don't have any reason to say "estate coin". It's a trick to get attention because people instinctively think that either (1) the person might not know what they have and so a deal can be found or (2) the price will be lower because it's like a garage sale. In my opinion.
SO many good points made about "estate" coins Stainless. Most are crooked as stated. We have one estate seller that dumps a lot of his lower end gold at the shop. He sells on ebay but not as estate auctions. He's just a seller
stainless, Estate coin is common phrase applied to coins in effort to make the buyer think the coins were hoard away by some old rich guy. Amazing that so few sellers on ebay the actual person that recently purchased the coin. There always playing second party, example... these were my grand-dads coins! They never tell you they bought the coin on ebay ,at flea mkt... they paid to much and hope to recover cost. Ozark
