Identification help

    I know it can't be worth much in this condition, but I'd like
    to know what it is that I have :)

    hmmm...10 cents of something :D :p, hehe sorry, I always enter at all the "what's this?" threads but I never know what they are!!! :(

    Countermark, 10 reis, somewhere in Brazil, 1830s or so.

    I got a bunch of these. They are usually pretty worn. I think Portugal is involved some how, along with Brazil.

    In any case, they go for a few to several dollars on ebay inthis kind of shape.

    Thanks. I could barely make out a rounded bottom of a digit
    followed by 13 when I was looking for a year.
    So what you are saying, it's more likely 1813 rather than 1613 :)

    Brazilian coins of 20 Reis, made just after brazilian independence from Portugal. It was made of cooper, between 1822 and 1832, then counter marked 10 Reis in 1830-1832. After de digits of the date there wera a leter representing were it was produced. Usuali you'll find "R" from Rio de Janeiro.
