1917 Variety 1 Standing Liberty

    What do you all think the grade of this coin is, in my horribly uneducated guess I think AU...? IMG_0282.jpg IMG_0283.jpg

    It looks to have been wiped or cleaned at some point due to the hair lines on the reverse of the coin.

    I agree- there is a possibility that it could have been cleaned. Hairlines and uneven luster are indicators.

    AU Details. Cleaned (Or, as NGC puts it "Improperly Cleaned").

    I don't think AU is unreasonable. Cleaned, as mentioned, but not awful. Looks like it has pretty close to a Full Head, as well? Nice coin, despite the cleaning.

    Had it not been cleaned, I would've placed it in somewhere in the higher AU numerical range.

    Agreed. AU Details. Too bad too cause it is a nice one. Still a great hole filler.
