    I think:

    1) Artificial Toning. I wonder what problems the AT is hiding.

    2) You need to rethink your priorities if you are broke after buying a $20 coin.

Hard to tell from just a pic. $20 is not bad though.

    greetings!
i need a much better picture to explain the problems w/ this coin.
"rainbow"....not exactly what is meant by the term. the pics are not good, but look on it as a learning experience or as an investment in bullion. if you cannot return it, or ,if it is too much trouble w/ silver at a little over $17. then keep it. if you can get us a nice large pic, we can help point out what to look for in coins such as these as to avoid them.
still close to an ounce of silver tho and is always easily sold.

best wishes and please take your time and learn......steve

Buying Coins Broke, or Really BROKE? Oh Well, if either is the case all I can say is "I've been there and there and there will be better days ahead. :)"

    Take Care

In a few years time you bring this up in the blunders thread :D

$20 is ok, even if ya don't return it it still looks nice and is worth at least $12.12 in silver content.

The best way to explain it is that artificial toning looks like it is "floating" on the surface of the coin, where natural toning looks more like it is part of the coin.

The best way is to spend time looking at naturally toned coins and artificially toned coins and get a feel for telling the difference.

There's not really a good substitute for experience.

For $20, don't kick yourself too hard. You bought it for nearly melt, so if nothing else you at least got your money's worth. Nothing wrong with that. Plus, the most important thing to remember...if you like the coin and are happy with it, then mission accomplished. It only has to satisfy one person here, and thats you.

Ooops. Yeah it's a dip experiment candidate for sure. Hey how come the seller's name is untouchedcoins? Oxymoron?

Don't forget the $4.95 postage fee. Hey Stainless don't feel bad. I just blew $56 on a Morgan that was supposed to be MS66 PL. Ha! I'll keep the thing but it's junk. I think PL means poop like. Check out the e-bay seller

    Live and Learn

Don't be too hard on yourself. Learning "making mistakes" is all part of the experience of becoming experienced.

The coin looks AT to me and I'm a huge fan of NT coins, specially rainbows. Dipping this coin to remove the AT would undoubtedly send this coin on its way to the ruined pile. Keep it, for the price its an inexspensive example of AT on a Morgan. Who knows you might get the opportunity to sell it for a profit to someone who collects AT Morgans, its possible.

    Keep on Collecting!!!

I bought my first morgan from the westminter collection (official partner to the royal british mint)
It was £19.99 then or nearly $40 in a worn condition.

What it was is that I had bought a britannia bullion coin and a few weeks later they sent me a morgan in the post with a letter saying 'keep it for £19.99 or return it for free'.

I kept it but I more than twice over paid.

After you buy your next coin you will forget all about this one as is the case.

Have to ask this, why did you buy the coin? If it was because you liked the look of it then you have paid out $25 for something you wanted. It dont matter what we all say here if you are happy with the coin. Now on the other hand if you bought it because you believed what the seller was saying LOL
I have a few artificialy toned coins that I bought but I bought them cus I liked the colour LOL nothing vastly expensive though :D
Before you start beating yourself to death wait till the coin arrives and then look at it in daylight and decide :D
