1921P Morgan- 16 Berries, Vam3AB "AREA"- has die gouges by "OF" but does not match the VAM3AB, at is also has die gouge by the other wing and a possible incused letter by VEE Hairline on the Obverse. Coin is being sent to Mr Van Allen for possible new VAM attribution. Here are some pics. What grade would you give it ? Thanks!
Hard to tell because there isn't a pic of the coin as a whole. But, from the ware on the eagles breast, I'd have to guess xf. That year had nice strikes, so a weak strike isn't likely. Guy~
Definitely better than EF...I'd say AU-MS. There's plenty of luster there to support that. Not sure why the eagle's breast looks weak/worn since there's no corresponding weakness/wear on Liberty's hair above her ear where you'd expect the same sort of look.
Thanks: The coin is very highly polished on the Obverse and Reverse- you can see it on Liberty's forehead, on the Eagles Wing Feathers etc- down by the ribbon - high polish marks all over it. I'm really excited on getting this coin properly Vam'ed- if you look close you can see the die gouges/polish marks on both the left and right wing- nothing like that on the Vam list- plus the possible letter "U" by the Vee Hairline. I'll post the results after Mr. Van Allen gives his determination on this.
I would have guessed between AU58 and MS62 for the grade, and can't tell from the images that it has been polished.
