2.4g in weight small date and not sure what I am seeing and not seeing. Front of neck is missing and seems a light impression of being struck but IDK. I tried getting light by using different angles and how it helps. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I think you might have two things going on here. Grease and a weaker strike. Given that you have a full rim, this would suggest that there was grease on the die when it struck the coin (e.g., a greaser). But the rim is shallow, weak especially by the date. This would suggest a weak strike. The reverse isn't as crisp either and some grease evidence at about 10 o'clock on your coin. The die state might be middle to late, so things start to get washed out. But more so on the reverse die as the IGWT seems pretty crisp yet (early to middle). Others may have something more to offer on this.
Thank you for all the information as to what may have caused this. Have watched videos on minting process but they didn't show the procedure workers use to prolong the life of the die.
The neck is missing due to an over polished die. The neck area is a shallow relief area so when the die is over polished these shallow areas achieve the same level as the field and they disappear.
