It's some dark lines that look kind of like wood grain on obverse and darker more prominent lines on reverse. I know I shouldn't clean my coins but I wanted to see if they wash off or fade but after a soak in hot water with some Dawn and a towel rub...all i have is a shiney penny with exact same lines..
    sorry for the sub-par photos.
Anyways . Id appreciate it if one of these savy numismatics would tell me what up with the stripes. Thank you

Looks like it could have been alloy mixing that wasn't done completely. Doesn't add any value, but it may have if it was unc.

You have a lovely woodie. Copper coins that the alloy isn't done just exactly correctly display this wood grained appearance. There are some very lovely variations and there are some threads here that display them. They aren't terribly unusual and they are a treat to look at. Nice catch.

You have a woody. It’s from the alloy mix. Was much more common on early wheat cents and Indian heads. I don’t recall seeing a woody this modern

That's a woodie. It's an improper mix of the metals. Very nice find.

A two sided, roller-mark woody, nice find! This not an alloy mixing error but the result of dirty press rollers imbedding junk into the coin during planchet manufacture. If you do search, the topic has been discussed in depth here at coin talk.

I agree with @BadThad it’s a roller woody not a mixture woody. Good eye keep searching!

Thanks for the replies and info. I found another woody with clear stripes on obverse but nothing much on reverse.

Would this one be a woody rainbow? Obverse has stripes like the reverse side just in color.. found the last two Woody's in the same coin roll..might have to change my name to woody queen! ..but that might give the wrong impression..lol
