Can anyone help me identify this coin which I purchased with a number of other "Chinese" coins, most of which I can't identify.

No problem with Ning Yuan Bao, but the first character doesn't look to me to be Chong unless it's in a very archaic form. I don't know of a bronze Chong Ning Yuan bao in any case - Schjoth only lists an iron version S-626. What dynasty/Emperor did you have in mind?

A Chinese friend of mine thought the first character might be Ya, but in an old form.

S-626 is what I was looking at, not a good match but the best I found.

Yes, it's close, but not the one I think, as I already have a bronze Chong-Ning Yuan-Pao which I believe is also a fake.

Maybe when my long-awaited Hartill arrives I'll be able to find out more.

    Thanks for your help.
