    Hopefully the guys insurance will cover the value of those coins.

    This question was asked on the first post about this story. What Presidential Dollars are valued at $1,000.00?

    So you're outside the US and are able to reach that palmbeachpost.com website? Good for you then - I'm in Europe and cannot access their site. Not that I really want or need to; up to them who they allow in and who gets locked out. But in this particular case I got curious of course :) and fortunately I have in the meantime found the story elsewhere. (Here for example.)

    So "In addition to the spare change he received from the Coin Star machine, Mele said he took some of the coins to a local coin & jewelry shop, where he sold them for roughly $4,000." No matter whether these figures are accurate or not, it seems to me that "some" coins went into the machine, and others were sold to that store. At a bad price for this seller, right. But as a criminal drug addict who wants cash fast, you do not have that many choices, I assume ...
