It should be an exciting year for moderns. The California quarter alone will get a lot more people interested in collecting.
Picking up my tubes of Silver Eagles this Saturday!!! When they arrive the new year is on the way for me!!!
Who thinks they might see a genuine Bison nickel in circulation this year? Personally, I think this nickely will be the most collected coin of the century. From child to Grandparent will be stuffing these away. I'm 100% excited about it. The challenge will be to find one in circulation -just like the original eh?
I didn't really expect to see the Keelboat nickels in circulation, but I have a load of them. So I think we probably will see some in circulation.
20 Year Anniversary Set Whre oh where is the 20 Year Anniversary set to match the 10 year set. For some reason I had my hopes set on a real neat looking 20 year set from the Mint. What a let down.
He was refering to the '95-W 10th Anniversary Proof Gold Eagle set which also comntained the '95-W Proof Silver Eagle - and hoping that the set would be repeated for the 20th anniversary.
Interesting. I knew about the 10 yr anniversary 95W silver dollar -but forgot that it came in the gold set -is that correct? Also, at that time the silver eagles were minted at S mint?? So, the West Point mint was a one-off at that time correct? Now that all the silver eagles are W mint, will that lower the collectiblity of this set if one should come along?
I have seen VERY few of the new commemorative nickels in change. It's almost as if they're not existant. David
maybe just maybe Maybe this time it would be good to see the four coin gold set and a platinum coin instead of the silver eagle. That would be a hoot.Eh
Yes - the Anniversary set was the only way to get a '95-W ASE. The '95 Proof ASE was minted at Philadelphia. Yes - it was at the time the only time it had happened. It was that the '95-W was the only time it had happened, along with the fact that it only had a mintage of 35,000 that made it a hit. The '95-P ASE had a mintage of about 300,000 if memory serves. So - if another set were issued and all the Proof ASE's had the same mint mark - obviously it would not have the same effect. It was the different mint mark and low mintage - that would have to be repeated for the coin to shoot up in value.
Time to pick up the silver proof quarters for your album today Or perhaps you could wait one month and buy the clad proof set and the new nickel at the same time? I wonder if the silver proof quarter set will sell out in less than a month?
Already got my 2005 FIRST STRIKE PCGS MS69 silver Ameican Eagle. Won it on ebay for $22.77. Not bad since I didn't pay to get it slabbed and at least my boys can hold it without getting their paws all over the coin.
Don't forget that the Mint starts selling the new nickels tomorrow! (My bank doesn't get any rolls from the Fed, so I'll have to get my nickels from the Mint)
Nice, I can't wait to see the new nickel circulating, I find it to be a real nice improvement for the nickel. Aprox. when the "Lake View" nickels will be out?
