Thank you. I will continue to be here. If i can provide any kind of inspiration to anyone then i am truly humbled. Whether the collection gets completed or not is some thing i will leave to destiny. I have a feeling that god didn't bring me so far to make me quit.
That is the attitude to have. Attack life with all the gusto you can and things will get better. I know and understand the feeling......I had a plush job -- but it really stank in some ways and lost it. I had to find a new one to support my family. But with Luck and Friends....things turned out for the better. If there is ever anything...and I mean ANYTHING I can do to help, all you need to do is ask. That's the spirit. Now comes the challenge. You got thrown big. Everybody can see that. But it's the same formula, as for us all. There's no magic to it. You've gotta dust yourself off, and climb back in that saddle. You can do it. Let's just say, I have a sense of these things. And afterwards, you'll look back to these hard times with a sense of achievement, and feel and be much stronger for it. Good luck.
Back right after 9-11 I got laid up by my company. It bit for a short time, but I got over it pretty quick and now years later I am glad that little career change happened. I hated parking my carcass behind a desk anyway. The crazy thing with my career change is that now instead of being behind a desk, I am often under it. I switched gears and decided to do networks, PC setups etc. More $$$$ and none of the political fecal matter of offices.
You should make that "Spock IS the best". Present tense kind sir! A quick history. I was with IBM for 14 years. Laid off in their 'first ever layoff' in '93. Was back as a consultant for 1 year and then hired on to Merrill Lynch for almost 7 years. Then, yep, you guessed it, laid off in '00. Was back as a consultant and then 9/11 hit everyone. I got laid off again that December and did not work 'full time' for almost a year. That is when I 'found' eBay and sold a good portion of my collection. Then I was back as a consultant for IBM working on a Merrill Lynch project! Ironic, eh? And that lasted 3 plus years. Then my wife convinced me to get out of the IT/Tech Support field and I've been in the medical field ever since. The moral of this story, as I know you saw one coming, is that, like folks have said here before me, you pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and find somethin' to climb right back onto. And it sounds like some super decent people in here are willing to lend help in any way they can. Please be sure to lean on them (and me) if you ever feel like the road you are travelling on just don't feel right! Hey, I take a couple days off to help with the family tree and ???????:?. Spock, you hang here there and God with help you with bigger and better things.
