The parthian drachm has finally arrived. What a great patina on it! (that is patina right and not a copper coin? haha *nervous laughter*) mrcollector.eu 's parthian coin identifier put it out as Vologases III type 78.2 with medium triangular beard. 105-147AD. Ecbatana mint
Looks like "hoard patina", if it is, sweet. I think hoard patina is my favorite an ancient coin can look. Here is my Vologases III. Vologases III (Sellwood; Shore)/Pacorus I (Assar) AR Drachm O: Diademed bust left, wearing longer pointed, beard. R: rcher (Arsakes I) seated right on throne, holding bow; monogram below bow. Ekbatana mint 3.75g 20mm Sellwood 78.5 (Vologases III); Sunrise –; Shore 415 (Vologases III).
Wow, nice, @Muhammad Niazi ! I agree with @Mat regarding a hoard patina... that would be great. I only have one coin from the Ekbatana Mint... This is the guy who defeated Marcus Licinius Crassus (Roman Triumvir with Pompey and Caesar, who was at the time the richest man in Rome) and poured molten gold down his gullet... PARTHIA Orodes II 57-37BC AR Drachm 18mm 3.3g - Crassus gold - Ekbatana mint stars crsnt Arsakes on throne bow anchor Sellwd48.9
