Ok, so I bought a 1948 Frankie (please don't kill me guys...but) on Ebay.

It is an MS-62 graded in a slab.

Now, I don't care about the slab and will take the coin out, but, I assumed it was a PCGS or a NGC, therefore an accurate grade. Otherwise I never would have bought it givin the pics.

I hope this seller knows how to grade right.

I really need to pay better attention to what I'm buying.

    here's the linky:

I'm still going to buy the coin, only because it is the right thing to do, and I need this one. But I did just e-mail him to see if it was FBL or not.

    Key phrase in auction here.

THE COIN IS IN A PLASTIC HOLDER AND GRADES MS-62.

If it doesn't specifically mention that it's PCGS or NGC why would you assume it is?

Honestly don't think you got burned and yes I think you should honor your bid.

The picture is blurry so it may be AU or it may be Unc.

Price wasn't horrible. Heck melt on the thing is $6. Dude there are MILLIONS of coins for sale. Take a deep breath and wait for the right ones.

I hope you do learn restraint soon. It's not easy but can be done. I've worked at the coin shop for a few months now and bought a total of 8 coins. 6 of those I sold. It can be done.

I honestly don't know. I guess I saw it in a slab like case and just assumed.

The seller has awesome feedback. All three of his neutrals are because the other person didnt read the bid right (like me). I think it will turn out to be a MS-62 as stated but it is probly a flatstruck. Even still, I havent seen a 1948 franklin that looks this nice so I still want it.

I do agree that I need to learn restraint, I've been getting a lot of breaks ever since I came into the hobby but if I don't stop making silly mistakes like this I may really take a beating.

Has anyone here delt with this seller? If so, how good are his grading skills?

Yea, really inexpensive mistake. Even if it turns out to not even be uncirculated, or is damaged, the most you loose is a few bucks.

Not that bad. When did you ever see a "super buting opportunity" before?

I know the price is ok, but it is the grade I am worried about. Usually I get outbidded, I don't know why no one else bid on this one.

stainless dont worry about it. for what you have learned 10 bucks is a reasonable price. heck you get a deal even if you didnt ge a coin. Also realize that sometimes you will get great coins at a cheap price but then trying to get a real price for them when you are selling them won be easy :) so learn all that you can. Patience is a virtue :)

stainless, that looks like a do it your-self slab seal kit. There are spots either on the coin or holder? those spots occur after dipping, and then failure to rinse carefully in purified water. Still, a bargin price, go for it. good luck, ozarktravler

Stainless, okay take a deep breathe, relax. If I kicked myself in the bum everytime I blew it with this hobby, I would have left long long ago. Think of it as a long term learning experience.

Stainless make sure you buy something off of eBay with sufficient photos of the label. You didn't pay for the slab here, just the coin. It takes time to learn, but you will be a pro at ebay; it just needs getting used to.

To be honest, it looks like one of those PCI slabs. Doesn't ebay not allow a seller to mention any other TPG by name other than the one's approved by ebay? If it is PCI, well, I don't think they can be mentioned by name and since he didn't show the reverse of the slab, i can't tell. We will see soon enough.
