Hi, is this like yours pal? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2227317587&category=3384 I don't know a thing about canadian coins...but I decided to look that one for ya!... Have a nice day/night! Ivan
Yeah, the one above's a Canadian half dollar. On yours, is there a minting "stamp" (sorry, new to this). Under the year, on the front, or on the back under good ol' Georgie's icon it may have a C, a W, an O or an NF on it. This'll help track it down to where it was minted... Also, is '39 the year India split off? If so, this may be a low-mint coin (from memory), as they had to re-print another set of 39's without the ":IND:" on the reverse. Beyond that, 2 days into this collecting thing, I'm not sure. The one linked to is the only type of Canadian half dollar I've seen for 39.
1939 coin it has a PM on it , do you think there were any with a PM on them? I am really new and I know nothing about coins thanks for help

Hi, sorry for the late reply, you can send it over and I can do some search if you want, but I don't know anything about canadian coins I just wanted to help Ivan
I believe that may be a commemorative silver round and not a product of the Canadian Mint. The latin translates roughly to "Canada salutes the King and Queen". A silver round is an ounce of silver, and is worth approximately what the current market price of silver is. Some people do collect silver rounds, and will pay more than spot, depending on the design on the round.
1939 Canadian Coin Sasha -- This may have been answered already, but the coin is a commemorative of the 1939 visit to Canada of H.M King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. To commemorate the visit, the Royal Canadian Mint struck three series of commemorative medallions: 77 mm presentation medals in gold, silver and tombac, 38 mm bronze and silver medallions for sale to the public, and a 25 mm bronze medallion which was distributed to Canadian school children. The Obverse featuring the conjoined profiles of George VI and Elizabeth was designed by Percy Metcalf and was also used on the 1937 British Coronation Medal. The reverse, designed by Emanuel Hahn, shows a map of Canada and the route followed by the royal couple during their visit. Rich
I just want to clear up a couple of things that were brought up in previous posts to this thread. From 1908 until 1976 there was only one mint in Canada. The circulating coins are minted in Winnipeg after 1976 and the collector coins are minted in Ottawa. The only Canadian coins that I know of with mint marks are some uncirculated sets done in Winnipeg in1998 and 2000. India's independence came in 1948 and that was the year that the words "et ind : Imp :" were removed.
