Hi, I am a new member. This is a neat website, I have a question for anyone that can answer it. I have a quarter that is completely Blank on both sides, I can tell its a quater from the weight of it and the edge has the copper on it. I was just curious if something like that is common or not? I'll Post a pic of it. I just like to collect weird coins, and old coins. nothing special
Welcome to the forum! I am still new at numismatics as well and do not know enough about minting errors, post-mint damage etc. to venture a guess, but there are plenty here who will opine soon enough.
Looks like an unstruck planchet. That is a blank with raised rims that did not get struck by the dies. Unstruck planchets are very collectible, especially larger coins.
Thanks for your replies! I really enjoy that coin, it would be really hard to part with. But if it were worth money like lots of money, then i would consider it. I have a small colllection of coins, including silver dimes and quaters, buffalo knickles, wheat pennies, and other old coins.
Welcome to the Corner! You're not going to get rich from that blank planchet, but it's a nice collectible. You can buy these for about $20, but finding one is much more exciting.
