I alluded to this as a possibility in the OP, but using AU55 as the grade for argument's sake... - Why would these be any less worthy than the pre-war examples? - Pre war and post war commons command similar prices. - This series' value is NOT close to bullion/spot (using AU55's for argument's sake) when compared to many other pre '33 gold coins, one of the reasons they're so heavily counterfeited. - I feel these post wars did not circulate as freely as pre-war dates based on my reading, but who knows?
Year / Mint: 1926 Mintage: 446,000 TPG Service/Grade/Cert. #: PCGS AU55 #14266307 Notes: This one has just about everything going for it. Great deeper colors, luster, strike, and details.
Ya wanna send those on to me, I could photog them a tad bit better, but I couldn't guarantee you'd get those gems back......
Year / Mint: 1928 Mintage: 416,000 TPG Service/Grade/Cert. #: PCGS AU55 #13608813 Notes: Quality example and full of luster.
Agreed! The 1st photos in each post are just... bad. Hopefully, some of the others I shared are a little better? I better get it together because I volunteered to take some pics for Lord M! Hopefully he doesn't catch this lol. Thanks Green, some of these are far nicer in hand and pretty decent for TPG 55's.
Year / Mint: 1929 Mintage: 532,000 TPG Service/Grade/Cert. #: PCGS MS63 #8436847 Notes: I wasn’t able to locate a PCGS AU55 example. Having decided to finally break my self-imposed constraint, it was important for me to locate an alternative that would please (me). This one is in an old green holder and blanketed w/ an attractive tone. Like the rest of my images, I couldn’t do it justice. This 63 will provide me with a grading baseline/reference to compare the AU55’s against. Seller Images
Nice set! I made the mistake of choosing a series ($10 Indian eagles) that I could never complete, given the price of the 1920-S, 1930-S, and 1933. Oh well, one can dream, right?
You have assembled a wonderful set of $2.50 Indians. Glad to see you went with the strong D. I have a complete set, strong D included. I've thought of adding the weak D but I can't find one that I like. This is the only gold set that I know of that the average person can afford to assemble but that 1911-D is a killer.
I really like your coins, and especially appreciate the amount of work and worry you had to go through to get your "Set". I say "Set" as a Caveat because your last coin really isn't part of your "Set." Please keep us informed if or when you get the correct coin for your set. Again, thanks for showing us your coins and the best of luck in "completing" your set.
great job assembling your set, hat's off as competition for these is pretty intense now. Love the 11-D!
An older thread, but no less impressive today than it was two years ago. Congrats on a truly eye appealing completed set.
@masterswimmer, you're doing the Lord's work by bringing the thread back into the fold again as now I get to see it for the first time. @WashQuartJesse, this is likely my favorite series of coin; I particularly like your '14-D and '29. Your thread made me stupid happy, and I thank you for sharing your collection with us.
