Can NCS help you get your improperly cleaned coin in a NGC slab. lets say i have a coin thats not properly cleaned (i am not saying harshly cleaned here) and i send it to NCS for sconservation will they be able to fix it so it gets graded by NGC? let me know what you guys think and whatthe differences are in theory and in practise. thanks.

I was wondering about the same thing. I have 2 NCS altered surface coins, don't know if they will fix it.

    I don't think that you can un-do a disaster.

They can remove PVC, ugly toning, etc.

    But: un-do a cleaning?
    Nope.

They can reveal the original surfaces if they remain underneath corrosion, PVC, etc, but they can't put back the original surfaces if they've been removed in any way...

how about undo a improper cleaning as long as the coin was not harshly cleaned

If you are willing to pay the freight, I believe they have an evaluation service.

Any pics? I'm not sure if they can undo an undo-able (if that's a word :D), but I guess it depends on the coin?

    Phoenix

Here are some of my problem coins.

The 1879-cc might have been dipped too many times, I see a shadow surrounding the design, don't think NCS can fix this problem. Not sure what is causing the shadow.

I don't see anything wrong with the first 1897-o, looks ok to me.

The second 1897-o have spots on it, and looks a little too shiny, maybe there is some oil? residue on it.

All 3 are UNC details without any hairlines as far as I can see. How did those coins became this way? Anyone?

If the coin has already been determined to be "improperly cleaned" by NCS or NGC, there is nothing that NCS should be able to do to change that and get the coin into an NGC holder. Simply put, NCS can't undo the cleaning.

whata re the thoughts on altered surfaces is that something NCS can help with?

No, the only thing NCS can do is clean a coin. They cannot undo anything.
