Hello, I need help with these four coins, identification and value please: looks provincial, somebody sitting on the reverse? Alexander The great wearing his lion cloak? Agrippa, Nero?, S C within a wreath. victory on prow of ship? women on observe. Thanks Thomas,
Some inexpert guesses here, but I'll give it a try: The first one is Provincial, Severus Alexander I think, judging by what's left of the obverse inscription. Tyche (?) sitting on a rock (?) reverse - there are many on CT who could tell you right off the bat exactly where it is from. Second one is Alexander the Great (or a successor) AE with club and bow case reverse, Hercules on the obverse. There are many variations of this - yours has an unusual marking above the club that should narrow down attribution with some work. RC already nailed the Domitian. Good job, RC! That last one might be Phoenicia. This is an extensive series, Tyche/Astarte (or Nike?) on a galley, so to attribute it correctly will take some work. This site is great: https://phoeniciancoins.wordpress.com/arados-hellenistic-bronze-by-series-era-date/ Here is a similar one from Vcoins, not an exact match: https://www.vcoins.com/en/stores/ma...on_19822__astarte_on_prow/574004/Default.aspx Of particular interest to me is that it appears to have been countermarked on the obverse. I found something similar (again, not a match) here: https://www.vcoins.com/en/stores/sp...ri_bmc_13v_sng_cop84_fine/263683/Default.aspx Interesting batch of coins. They look like fun to me.
Nope. I don't think any of them are especially rare, and condition is not spectacular. But that being said, there are some nice types here. You might poke around Vcoins to see what they are retailing at. Prices are typically lower on eBay, but the risks (for buyers) are greater because of fakes (in my inexpert opinion, none of yours are fakes). I put in a Vcoin search Alexander and club and got a bunch similar to yours - you could narrow this search considerably: https://www.vcoins.com/en/Search.as...cords=100&SearchOnSale=False&Unassigned=False
