I’m planning to have these posters printed and mounted on foam board. I collect coins of first and second century Antioch, Seleucis and Pieria, the Indo-Scythian Kingdom, the Land of Judaea, the Nabataean Kingdom, and the Seleucid Empire. I’ve also included my Judaean poster which I have displayed numerous times. This poster features six more coins and four replacement/upgrade coins. The last image shows how I’m going to display them in my library. I prefer long and narrow layouts because I have limited wall space. I also have several gift coins (not shown) that are very special to me that I’ve received from CoinTalk members.
I don't have a clue what the hell I'm look'in at but I know it's stunning! You ancient guys are over top!!
Very nice!!....You certainly have a good eye for layout and impact!....Because of my collecting areas I love the Azes poster... I'm awful with design and have been thinking about producing a similar wall poster of my Kashmir set, but its not looking good I dont even know where to start let alone where it will finish ...Any tips!?
Greetings @Spaniard, I do my first layout very simply. Just coins on a white background. I’m a bit symmetry obsessive. I like to work with groups of coins that are divisible by 3, 4, 5, or 6 so that I can make even rows and columns. I don’t add any background pattern or imagery until I'm happy with the basic layout. I hope that helps.
Way cool! So you are going to print and hang them? Do you think you'll feel "locked in" on any one coin after printing?
Great posters! I'm not a big fan of the stylized heading fonts, especially since only Antioch is printed in standard, Roman letters. Other than that, I'd suggest you work with a good frame shop and find some nice way of displaying them that allows you to switch out the posters easily as your collection evolves and you print different posters. You may be locked into a specific size format this way, but framed posters look much, much better than bare posters hanging on a wall. As always, I love reading your posts, because you have a really impressive collection of Biblical coins. There are way too many great coins here for me to name a favorite.
What a great job Deacon Ray, your posters are wonderful. They are going to look wonderful on the wall of your library.
The cost of printing and mounting at my local office supply store is very reasonable. I’m okay with these being rough drafts. I’ll replace them as time goes on and I change and correct them. Thank you for your kind words!
Whew! I'm glad to hear that. For a moment I was concerned that they would discourage you from continuing collecting lest the posters become out-of-date. If you do update them now and then, I'm sure someone might want the old ones. Any idea what you will do with the old ones? Bible school? Goodwill, perhaps?
