Whatever is causing certain "D" pennies to look like this apparently isn't particularly rare. This is slightly less pronounced than the other two I've posted, but if I've got three and that other person has one...others should be finding them, too!
You know, I would put it in a 2x2 or some other holder and stash it away. Maybe oneday the mystery will be solved. I mean you would only be out 1 cent plus the cost of the holder. I think this one looks the coolest.
I hadn't noticed how shallow the "4" in 2004 was until I saw the scanned, enlarged image. I'll save all 3 and any more I find. Technically, I'm not even "out [3 cents]," because I'll still have them! One of my Whitman penny folders has space for more, so I've got a stash spot.
Mhmmm...the 40+ year error expert said these were fairly common and I guess he is quite right and that they do go for a few dollars.
I was wondering what your guys' opinions are about this error cent I came across. It is a '03D...this one has got me miffed.
