Especially the new posts stating "I also have a silver penny.. How much would it be worth?".. After it has been clearly explained that it is most likely plated
Very interesting thread @Randy Abercrombie I have a request. As a noob to CT I am not aware of the probable existence of some of the more fun, laughable and just outright hysterical threads that might have gone to the necro pile. Here's an example of what I mean. I belong to another forum for saltwater reef keepers. One day a new young reefer (YR) posted a pic of his coral and asked a question. One of the responses from a long standing member pointed out that the coral looked dyed. The YR was quick to respond that the coral was in fact very much alive and still growing. Well the next five pages of the thread were overridden with posts going back and forth about the coral not having died just because it had been dyed. The YR arguing with frustration that we were just jealous of his obviously beautiful coral. The jocularity became epic and that thread lives in infamy. CT must have threads of a similar levity that I'd love to see. Resurrect the jocularity!
What about all those threads where the OP disappears after claiming he knows what he has and doesn't listen to the experts? Call them Zombie Threads because they want to eat our brains.
I have done several Google searches on different coins and an old CT post will pop up and without looking at the date I made a comment and a moderator told me how old it was and I wouldn't get a response. I took no offense at all I just felt silly for not paying attention to the dates, that's why I became a member.
Many of the necro threads still have relevant and interesting topics. And if it's only a year or so old, it's not obsolete. As for new people posting there, they look up the topic (their coin) they want to discuss, the EXACT thing pops up, and they post, not realizing the thread is 7 years old, and, I think it is perfectly fine to continue the thread from that new point in time, instead of clogging up the boards with a ton of new threads.
I will say, & I believe I can speak for the majority of us, that that is a common reality as we speed through tasks (read: threads) to make sure we're not missing anything. (& while the Mods help us out a lot, they also put up with a lot of our "crap"! )
I for one comment on things when I see them. I couldn't care less how old they are because I'm speaking to FUTURE READERS. There is an IGNORE function. I don't know how to use it and like to make up my own mind. I rarely listen to sceptics and folks who think that others look to them to see what to think. If that bothers anyone they are free to ignore or block me.
Heyyy...Who is this new guy HookFynn ? I know it's Halloween but still......could this be an attempt to conjoin two exceptional and irascible people? lol
