i have three kennedy half dollars and i would like to know what they are worth. 2000 P, ms-63 1994 D, ms-63 1986 D, ms-60, weird black stuff on it that can be scratched off. i will try to upload pictures. not sure if my grading is good, looking at pictures is how i figured it out.
If you pulled them out of circulation it's unlikely they are still MS63 - and I second Becky's value estimate.
i know that it seems weird. i looked at pictures from a book for the grading. try to upload today if i get time.
The '86-D is a better date and worth several dollars if it were really MS-60. After trying to scratch something off it probably has no value. But then, if it were a big carbon spot then that would have already eliminated most of its value. I'd hang on to the '94-D. It doesn't have much value now but it's underappreciated and likely to later.
i'll hang onto the coins. the black stuff that could be scratched off, it left no damage to coin. comes off easy. not sure what it is.
The '86-D wholesales at $4.25 each in unc. This date was overlooked by those saving roles and mint set production was greatly reduced that year because many long time mint set buyers were inadvertantly removed from the mailing list. It's common for many mint customers to just wait till they they get the order forms. There are numerous dates of the Kennedys that were overlooked like this and have premiums. The '94-D wholesales at $1. This coin was usually pretty battered at the mint so choice specimens deserve a premium.
