I think this is a real satin finish. The strike is also impeccably strong. C834A32B-BE80-4D99-8D45-6E7E18DD9B48.jpeg 54819F4C-A113-464C-A43C-A9EF94E970C0.jpeg 48918C73-C327-466C-8FC0-8AB1F65EAB2D.jpeg

Thanks man, I picked it up from A little shop that was part of a warehouse while traveling through Pennsylvania.

Can I ask what your plans are for that coin?

I'm certainly not a Washington collector but just as a coin, it appears to have been polished to me. The devices are worn and appear to be from circulation. It's just my first impression. What do other's think?

Here is one of my nice 1964's for comparison. Ignore the die breaks.

Satin finish wasn't produced by the Mint in '64 but that is an extremely nice business strike silver quarter. It looks satin like but it's not.

Please bring it back to PA. I live here so I think that coin belongs in my collection. :)

It does look polished, not cleaned, definitely not satin finish.

By looking closer it appears to be photo shopped, the staples and ink marks look fuzzy as does the plastic cover of the flip transferred to the quarter. If it was pictured out of the holder I doubt it would look like a satin coin and would show the luster. JMHO

Nice condition. I will guess it was once part of a mint set.

    PCGS says otherwise.

For sure PCGS has die markers to spot these 1964 SMS quarters. Looking at the three in the link I provided, it looks like the die was heavily polished before striking the coins. There appears to be polish lines coming off George's ponytail. I would look to see if your coin has these same polish lines. There were very few of these coins struck so they should all have the same polish lines.
