1999 P DD Nickel

    This is a 1999 P Doubled Die Nickel I found in a pile of coins. All of the Obverse is affected.

    Notice how the MD goes both ways. It's a give away for MD.

    Looks like die deterioration and some MD. When posting pictures, having one of the obverse and reverse will help folks here with assisting in the diagnostic. Otherwise, nice closeups!

    Yes,, I guess I was sloppy with that post
    I always lead with front and back pics, and then the close ups.
    I hunt very hard but am not having any luck finding a DD.
    I just could have sworn that I saw some split serifs there.

    You will find them. It usually takes finding a few before developing the eye, and if you are like me, you'll think back to a few that got away (where you talked yourself out of a discovery). After that, though, you'll start to find them with greater regularity. Good luck on the hunt!!

    Thanks everybody. I was thinking about maybe setting up a webpage with all these examples of MD to both learn and teach.
