I found a 1946 penny and the 6 does not look right at all. I've searched all over the place for 1946 Penny's with errors on the 6 but they don't exist. Can someone help me figure this out
Rocky, you are correct, the 6 does not look right...& you are correct again, they don't exist. Your cent is damaged from its 73 yrs in circulation.
I second what @PlanoSteve said. Your coin has been damaged. Copper is pretty soft and something hit your coin and pushed the metal of the 6.
Should I assume that you have checked all 315,690,000 business strikes? Like the others said, it is very easy for circulation damage to disfigure the letters and numbers. Chris
