I won this out of the recent Heritage sale. The coin looks even more awesome in hand. I'll post more pictures soon.
Nice coin , nicer than my PCGS-AU-53 , you didn't ask but I'll say MS-61-62 . Hard to tell from the picture . Can't wait for more pictures . Thanks for sharing . rzage
hi zane! nice to see you post ! it is a gorgeous coin...the fields are very clean and the main distraction would be the mark in the hair. the strike is very nice,. a little flat on the hair but that is to be expected ....the denticles on the obverse as well as the stars , as well as the nice reverse eagle and centering of the coin are well detailed. i could go to 63 and would love to see it in hand.. congrats on your purchase and thank you for sharing...best wishes.........steve
i was willing to go to the 63 grade simply due to the fact that you bought it zane! you have held more coins (and especially rare and varied coin series) than i may ever even see (in person) in my life. you have an eye for coins (as do several other numismatists on this forum....i wish i could list you all, but there are some REAL numismatists on this forum as mods and members...thank you for your sharing of knowledge!!!). when you buy a coin for your own collection, there is definitely a reason due to your refined tastes. it must really be pretty in hand....thank you again for sharing and hope to hear more commentary from you. best wishes...steve
I've been working a good bit and have been suffering from sleep apnea. I'm having surgery this week, and when I recover I look forward to spending more time on the forums.
Thanks for the kind words. The coin is in a NGC 61 holder. I think the coin is a nice solid 62, but what really attracted me to the coin is the originality, and 1807's are becoming increasingly scarce especially in mint state grades. I think this will be a good coin to hold on to.
Whoa, very niiiiiiiiiicceeee coin!!!! :thumb: She sure is a beauty, very nice. :thumb: If you don't mind me asking, is that the pics, or "cabinet" rub on the obverse? Just wondering, very nice coin none the less! :thumb: Phoenix
