Here are my newest large cents. These are the same grade as spocks newest gold pieces (quote spock1) - the perfect grade for me. ALL opinions are welcome - what would you grade them? Positive and negative comments are welcome. The 1817 is actually in a PCGS holder.

By the way the first set of pictures on the 1833 is closer to the acutal color. One the second set I raised the camera about 1 or 2 inches. I did not change the lighting angle. It amazed me to see two different final colors. Don't forget if you want larger images click on the pictures.

Second set - and yes the reverse is rotated about 20 degrees.

Well I like them. Just be glad I don't do Large Cents currently, I did that when I was a kid.

Wow - you are really old!!! I did wheaties when I was kid. :) Just joking.

I actually think the bottom pictures of the 1833 are ugly and would not have bought it with those pictures. I might be missing some decent auctions on ebay if they post pictures like those. Sigh - if only I was as good as treashunt and some of the others taking pictures.

the first braided hair looks awkward to me. The Liberty head doesn't look like the ones below.

Actually they are called Matron head and Coronet cents. The last two sets of pictures are the same coin. The plate index of my newcomb book you can certainly see the difference in the heads on several of the dates. Seems like that is not mentioned on dates like 1833 - the heads look slightly different. On some the chin and jaw line look receding and others it looks like it is stronger jaw line.

Very nice, Mark ! Great pickup.

Ya know, I didn't like the Matron Head design for a long time, but they've really grown on me.

They seem prone to circular die breaks which reach almost all the way around, particularly on the obverse. Is there a reason, or is it just my imagination ?

It does seem like there are a lot of years with that circular die break. My newcomb book really does not go into why on the series. I do not know the reason.

Oh Ok Thanks! Now that I take a look at the redbook, there is a difference. Jeez, I learn something new everyday!
