i had to go back and confirm whether or not I already asked, I don’t think so. What am I seeing on this 1961 Canadian Nickel: PMD? Greaser? Planchette defect? Clashes of some sort? Anyways, love the new microscope, hope you had a great national Sasquatch Day, lol
Would an adhesive make it appear to have areas of missing metal? Around the Maple Leaf and on the queen’s nose especially, it appears to be of different depths if you take my meaning. No worries either way, just having fun finally seeing my coins up close and in focus, something my eyes don’t do so well alone nor with a loupe.
Yes, my question! If the junk on the coin somehow ”dissolved” or ate away at the metal, I guess that would explain it but it does appear to be a, negative space as you suggest.
Lol. Ima tool. It is so amazing how things can appear not as they are. This was an optical illusion for me. Glad I didn’t go ahead and list it for $10000 on eBay, lol, although there are great number of coins with crazy price tags like my avatar, I think I saw a China seller that had one listed at $3500 when everyone else is in and around the $20 plus or minus mark. Mighty is the sword, mightier is a toothpick on any goop on yer coins. I’ll go back to lurking in the shadows now, lol.
Optical illusion...delusion...it's all the same if you stare at coins long enough!! Now where did I leave my glasses....
